On November 8th, 2019, the students in the 6th year took a day trip to Canterbury, England. A few weeks before their travel, the students were given assignments to give them knowledge of what they would be visiting.
The students arrived at 3:15 a.m. and got on the bus. They drove up until the border of France and took the ferry the rest of the way to England.
Once the students arrived in England, the first stop was the Cathedral of Canterbury. The students were split into three groups for guided tours around the Cathedral in English. The tour focused mainly on the murder of Thomas Becket.
After the Cathedral the students were told to conduct street interviews with the locals. Some of the topics included Brexit, music, and food. After the students finished their street interviews, they were given time to eat lunch and go shopping.
Later in the afternoon, the students were told to meet up for the Canterbury Tales, a collection of 24 stories written by Geoffrey Chaucer in the 14th century. In the Middle Ages, the pilgrims who were traveling to the Cathedral to worship the shrine of Thomas Becket told stories to pass time.
When the students were finished listening to the stories, they were able to get something for dinner and walk around. They departed from Canterbury around 6:30 p.m. to go back to Fleurus, Belgium.
Overall the students really enjoyed their trip to England. For the exchange students, it gave them an amazing opportunity that they wouldn't have gotten before.

Le 8 novembre 2019, les élèves de sixième année sont partis pour une excursion d'un jour à Canterbury en Grande-Bretagne. Quelques semaines avant leur voyage, les élèves ont reçu des informations pour en apprendre plus sur cette excursion et les visites à venir.
Les élèves sont arrivés à 3h15 et sont montés dans le bus. Ils ont voyagé jusqu'à la frontière française et ont pris le ferry pour se rendre en Grande-Bretagne.
Une fois arrivés en Grande-Bretagne, le premier arrêt fut la cathédrale de Canterbury. Les élèves ont été séparés en groupes pour faire la visite guidée de la cathédrale en anglais. La visite était focalisée sur le meurtre de Thomas Becket.
Après la cathédrale, les élèves ont été invités à faire des interviews dans la rue avec des riverains. Les sujets abordés étaient notamment le Brexit, la musique et la nourriture. Après la fin des interviews, les élèves ont eu du temps pour manger et faire un peu de shopping.
Plus tard dans l'après-midi, les élèves se sont rejoints pour les Contes de Canterbury, un ensemble de 24 histoires écrites par Geoffrey Chaucer au 14ème siècle. Au Moyen-Âge, les pèlerins qui voyageaient vers la cathédrale pour vénérer la tombe de Thomas Becket racontaient des histoires pour passer le temps.
Lorsque les élèves ont fini d'écouter les histoires, ils ont eu du temps pour s'acheter à souper et se balader. Ils sont repartis de Canterbury vers 18h30 pour rentrer à Fleurus.
La plupart des étudiants ont vraiment apprécié leur voyage en Grande-Bretagne. Pour les étudiants d'échange, ce fut une opportunité qu'ils n'auraient pas eu auparavant.
